3) Preview

Apple did realize some time ago that it needed to provide its Mac OS X users with the ability to do work on their PDF files. And because of that, Apple introduced Mac’s own PDF software called Preview. Mac OS X Preview was first introduced in OS X Leopard. It is basically a limited PDF Editor available for free to Mac users. It does provide few editing features on limited scale but if you are looking for some heavy editing work like putting up custom notes at different places or taking snapshot of a specific area, then you will need something a bit more sophisticated. Hi, I have been looking for an easy to use and not so expensive fully-featured PDF editor on MAC and finally found Qoppa’s “PDF Studio Pro” the most suitable one. It’s a great piece of software for quickly editing / creating PDF’s and very straightforward.
I can only recommend it to all who don’t want to use Acrobat, but need functionality.

As soon as iSkysoft hits anything the least bit challenging, it becomes hopelessly confused. If you just want basic annotating and markup, may as well stick with Mac’s own Preview doc viewer.

I have been using ISkysoft for a while now on Yosemite. I just realized that when I told a 3.6meg ODF file (created by Word) and I edited it in iSkysoft to contain maybe 25 or 30 links, it increased in size to over 11 meg! And then when I realized one of the page number was wrong, I reopened the file and changed the page reference form 66 to 68. That upped the size to 17meg! Does anyone have any idea what is going on?

I have been looking for a capable full PDF editor on MAC as an alternative to the expensive Adobe Acrobat and after a long search found Qoppa’s PDF Studio Pro. It really represents the best solution for me having to do a lot of “graphical” editing on PDF files which mostly contain images rather then text (in this case music scores). It seems to me that PDF Editor Pro by Qoppa Software is the only possibility on MAC to do this properly. Check it out.
